For generations at our family law firm a Christmas tradition has been scheduling hearings for divorced parents to fight over who had custody of the children for the holiday. Kind of leaves you with a warm, Yuletide cheer doesn’t it?
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself
Well…How did I get here?
When I was a younger lawyer it was not unusual to have the children my father had litigated over, now grown, come to me to litigate over their children while divorcing.
I guess that is the nature of a family business in ones hometown. The patrons return, generation after generation, our family has been trusted to fight for your family for generations.
Same as it ever was,
Same as it ever was,
Same as it ever was
Yet after thirty years of practice I have discovered I have been doing this for so long it is now the young children I fought over who are now grown, have had children of their own, divorce and come back to me for the same fight a generation later.
And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife
And you may say to yourself
My God! What have I done?
With apologies to David Byrne, it is same as it ever was.
Well finally you’ve utilized your anthem in this blog. I’ve been waiting!
