Podcaster Dan Carlin is an entertaining storyteller but lets face it, his Hardcore History is Adult Swim. The stories are not suitable for some audiences, like children. So imagine my shock when strolling through a bookstore and finding these titles in the children’s section.
Why is it we are imposing so much reality upon our children? Is it we feel like they need to be prepared for real life earlier than we were?
Or is it the objective to crush early any sense of wonder about the world, or any sense of self confidence before dreams of youth can be allowed to flower?
The cover says they were on the New York Times Bestseller List. Maybe that says something about New York.
I wonder what Fred Rodgers would say? Can you say “inappropriate”? Sure you can. I knew that you could.
