My father has been a lawyer since 1963. He is 80 years old, and officially retired.
But he keeps working. Every night, his caseload returns to him in his dreams. They are all bad cases. He cannot find the file. He is late for court and has not read the file.
I have long advised young people to not go to law school because it alters your mind. Before law school one thinks in terms of art and beauty. Now after the law school education one thinks of bad cases. Even when you have no cases to try during the day, you have them to try during the night. And they are all bad, it never goes away.
No matter where you go, your mind remains on the case. No matter how many birthdays you have.
Long may you dream Dad.
