There is refuge in the road

A diplomacy for the mind

A going, and a getting away

A task and a respite.

There is refuge in the road

The engine roars to life

And we accelerate

out of the ordinary.

There is refuge in the road

The hills and valleys roll past

The sky opens before us

And we hurl into the new.

There is refuge in the road

We glide to a stop

At some lonesome turn

And contemplate Gods country.

  2. Near the end of The Wizard of Oz Dorothy is supposed to board a balloon with the Wizard to travel back to her home in Kansas. Some misfortune occurs and the balloon slips its moorings early, carrying the Wizard away without Dorothy..

The crowd calls out to him, “Come back, come back!” and he replies “I don’t know how it works”.

Experience, I don’t know how it works.
